About
I'm Luke — a full-stack engineer and tech lead with 9+ years of shipping software, currently at Capital One. I was a founding engineer on the company's data standardization platform, and today I lead the team building LLM agents on top of it: tool-calling orchestration, session and state architecture, and streaming interfaces for long-running jobs. Our first agent pilot modeled 500+ data concepts in days against a 3-4 month manual estimate.
I like working at the seam between platforms and the people who use them. The projects I'm proudest of started as unsolicited proposals — a data modeling workbench I pitched and built that went from a 30-user pilot to company-wide GA in four months, and a Python recommendations service that ranks standardized concepts with zero-shot classification, now used by 1,000+ people internally.
Before Capital One I built healthcare products at a digital agency: a HIPAA-compliant patient self-scheduling product adopted by ~700 dental practices, and a serverless platform that ~2000 client sites migrated onto.
Off the clock I run my home on NixOS — Home Assistant, network-wide DNS filtering, Tailscale, all reproducible from one flake — play tabletop games, and build tools I actually use. This site is one of them.
